Frequently Asked Questions

Sometimes we can see your pet for an appointment the same day you call and sometimes we have to schedule a different day. You can call us at (262) 878-3333 to set it up or request an appointment time from the Home page of our website. If you have the PetDesk app downloaded to your smartphone you can request an appointment through the app as well. Then we’ll send you a text and remind you of your appointment.

That depends on what services we provide. Please give us a call before your scheduled appointment to talk to a nurse about your pet’s particular needs. We are happy to put together a potential healthcare treatment plan and email it to you ahead of time. If there needs to be any changes to the plan as a result of your pet’s exam with Dr. Ted, we are happy to discuss those changes with you at your visit.

In order to focus on our patients’ needs, customer service, and minimizing costs, we do not bill. Payment is expected when services are rendered. We accept debit and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express), checks, or cash.

When unexpected illness strikes your pet, unexpected expenses can strike as well. We understand this and have made special arrangements through the CareCredit Program and Scratchpay.

CareCredit’s quick 5-minute application can be created online and allows you to break down payments into 6 monthly installments. There’s no annual fee, 6-months interest free, and low monthly payments (3% of total balance) – Apply online now!

Scratchpay offers numerous payment plan options starting at 0% APR. Plans range from 3 to 24 months and finding your plan does not affect your credit score – Find your plan now!

We also offer a pre-payment plan for an upcoming service or procedure. You can apply funds (cash, credit, or debit only) to your account in anticipation of a future service and we’ll apply the accumulated credit to a future invoice. Funds can be applied quickly over the phone, or in-person and can be used for any in-hospital service, prescription, or product.

Ask any of our reception team for details on the various payment plans available to you.

Having pet insurance, in our experience, has made the difference between life and death. No kidding around here! There are now more than ten companies providing pet insurance to choose from. Many of them have websites where you can input different budgets and/or services to tailor a policy specific to your needs. A few that we have had experience with are ASPCA, Embrace, Nationwide and Trupanion. Pet Insurance is smart money, well spent.

In a word, yes! Remember that one year to you is seven for a dog and four for a cat. A lot can change in “four” to “seven” years. But even so, when we see our pets every day, subtle changes may be happening that we may not notice. That makes annual visits with Dr. Ted VERY important. His trained eye is more likely to pick up on those little changes because he doesn’t’ see your pet every day (even though he’d like to). The earlier he can detect an issue, the earlier we can treat it. This saves our pets from pain and discomfort.

Dogs get heartworm disease from mosquitos. This is Wisconsin people! When you’re sitting around that camp fire we’ll bet you’re using something to prevent getting bit. Did you know that for an average-size dog (26 to 50 pounds), ten years of heartworm prevention is less expensive than it is to treat heartworm disease? Heartworm disease is a slow and painful death sentence, if untreated. I’m sure you would agree, as we do, prevention makes sense.

If your cat is normally walking across your keyboard as you try to type on it or sitting in your lap as soon as your backside hits the couch, and now he isn’t, he’s telling you there is something wrong. When cats are not feeling right, their cat instincts tell them to hide because in the wild, any sign of weakness means he could be lunch for something else. They also do not understand that their own body can cause them pain. They think the pain is coming from something else in their world outside of their body, so they hide from it. When this happens, call us to set up an appointment.

Never! We are scientists at heart and that gives us a great opportunity to see what’s going on “back there.” But we’re really glad your dog isn’t a dinosaur either.

Not at all. Life happens. We get that. We’re glad you’re here and it’s a privilege for us to take care of your pet.
