    Practice Manager

Working in the field of veterinary medicine is the only career I’ve ever wanted. As a kid I would set up my stuffed animals on lawn chairs (kennels) and wrap their legs and tails with gauze bandages to heal their imaginary wounds. After graduating college, I started as a kennel attendant for my hometown vet in Illinois, worked through the ranks to become a licensed veterinary nurse in 1998, then (gulp) veterinary practice owner and manager in 2004. I believe education and preventive healthcare is the best way to create and enjoy the incredible bonds we make with the creatures in our lives. It continues to be a privilege for me to play a part in nurturing that relationship.

I am new to this profession and started with AHUG in October 2017 after spending 30 years in the banking industry. I can truly say I believe I found my niche because I love coming to work every day and interacting with the animals and their owners. I have a Himalayan cat named Precious, a Golden Retriever named AJ, and a mini-Aussie named Emma. I’ve lived in Union Grove for over 20 years with my husband Brian and I’m the proud mom to my twin son and daughter. In my spare time I enjoy participating in 5K fun run/walks, scrapbooking, traveling and attending concerts.

Animals have always been very close to my heart. I’m even affectionately known as ‘the animal lady’ to my friends and family because I’m rarely without them (from dogs and cats to cows, horses, goats, and more!) I love spending time with my cat Loki, volunteering for farm sanctuaries, photography, and getting lost in books. I have a degree in Health Unit Coordinating and am excited to be part of a like-minded team that always puts animals first.

    Licensed Veterinary Nurse

All my life I have known I wanted to work with animals. But it wasn’t until 2011 that I decided to go back to school and become a Veterinary Nurse. After graduating in 2013, I moved from across the state to start my career. I’ve worked at specialty hospitals in surgery, cardiology and ER. I decided to go into general practice and eventually found my home at AHUG. I am a proud “pet” to four Umbrella Cockatoos named: Star, who is 40 years old, Annabelle who is 20, Shadow who is 16 and Eddie who is 13. I also have a Senegal named Mango and a Green Cheek Conure named Mr. Pickles. Then I also have a bunny named Bon Bon. In my “spare” time I enjoy crocheting, spending time with my adult kids and watching a good movie.

    Licensed Veterinary Nurse

Hi my name is Sarah, and I’ve been an animal lover since I was a little girl. I grew up surrounded by animals, whether it was the cats and dogs I had as pets, or horseback riding. I started my career with animals volunteering at an animal shelter and volunteering with the Florida Oceanographic Center in Florida during college. After volunteering, I realized working with animals was what I wanted to do all the time, so I started going to Veterinary Technician school, and graduated in May 2020. In my free time, I love cuddling with my cat, Charlie, reading a good book, or gardening.

    Licensed Veterinary Nurse

Hi, my name is Kayla. Ever since I was a little kid, I knew that I wanted to work with animals. I grew up with a cat and a dog. But watching them struggle when they got older made me wish I could do something for them. So, when I graduated from high school in 2011, I started my journey toward becoming a Veterinary Nurse. I graduated from Gateway Technical College and I’m excited to start my career. In my free time I am either at home with my cats Joey and Oliver or spending quality time with my nieces.
